Normani and Cardi B take a walk on the “Wild Side”

“The world is ready for Normani supremacy!” Cardi has declared.

Normani and Cardi B have unveiled their highly anticipated single, “Wild Side.”

Over bass-heavy production that samples Aaliyah‘s “One In A Million,” the track centres on sensual pursuits. “Take me for a ride, boy / Show me your wild side, boy / Know it’s been a while, boy / I wanna get wild,” Normani croons on the hook.

Directed by Tanu Muino and choreographed by Sean Bankhead (who was behind Normani’s breakout video for 2019 single “Motivation”), the “Wild Side” video features Normani executing complicated dance routines with an ensemble in various striking settings. Meanwhile, Cardi hangs from a dangling chain, before she and Normani embrace each other, skin to skin.

The two collaborators have shown each other lots of love amid the single rollout. “The world is ready for Normani supremacy !!!!” Cardi B tweeted, shortly after the collab was announced. “okay sooooo I just watched the video again sis what the actual fuck,” the former Fifth Harmony member replied in response to Cardi’s tweet.

“I feel like this is Normani’s big comeback and, like, I want you guys to treat it like it’s her birthday,” Cardi B further commented in an Instagram story. “I’m the support team, okay? I’m just here like, “Yay.” But I’m so excited. You guys are gonna see Normani in a different light. Oh my gosh, I’m excited. This is amazing.”

Normani first teased “Wild Side” in February on social media, with a 20-second video that was captioned “know it’s been awhile.” Normani’s last release was “Diamonds,” her collaboration with Megan Thee Stallion last year for the Birds of Prey soundtrack.

Meanwhile, Cardi B recently performed at this year’s BET Awards, where it was revealed that she was pregnant with her second child. Her latest release was her raunchy February single, “Up,” which is expected to appear her upcoming second album, alongside the tracks “WAP,” “Press” and “Money.”
