Here’s something out of left field: Masego’s cover of Richard Rodgers’ “My Favorite Things” from the Broadway musical, The Sound of Music.
Titled “Favorite Tings,” the cover is a fresh take on the throwback song, which was made popular by Julie Andrews in the 1965 film adaptation. Masego injects his trademark trap-jazz house style into the holiday classic by adding more bass, warmer keys and a hefty dose of soulful sax, but without ever stripping away the magic that makes the tune a festive favorite.
Masego has also unveiled an accompanying visual, where the singer plays a barman at a neon-lit jazz club who takes over the stage to perform the song.
