Listen to Cautious Clay’s new song, “Reasons”

    The R&B up-and-comer teams up with Tobias Jesso Jr and Hudson Mohawke.

    It’s been quite the year for Cautious Clay. After dropping two EPs—Blood Type and RESONANCE—the rising R&B singer wraps 2018 with a brand-new single, “Reasons.”

    Co-written by Tobias Jesso Jr (who penned Adele’s “When We Were Young”) and Kanye West collaborator Hudson Mohawke, “Reasons” is already bound to be a hit on the charts. The song, which also credits Clay and Mohawke on production, is brief with its two-minute runtime, but extremely infectious.

    The track opens dramatically with loud, distorted synths before a sunny beat kicks in and Clay’s soulful vocals enter. “I did it all for the no / Did it all for the no good reasons / I said it all for the need / Always knew that you would change like seasons,” he belts on the hook.
