Khalid shares visual for “New Normal,” announces new album

His third album ‘Everything is Changing’ is set for release at the end of the year.

Khalid has dropped a visual for “New Normal,” and announced his third album Everything is Changing, which is set for release sometime at the end of 2021.

“You found your way but it’s never enough / And though it’s been tough for you / Losing touch / But ah, summer has its end sometimes / And although I can’t promise you much / You’ll be fine, you’ll be fine,” the singer-songwriter assures his listeners over atmospheric synths.

In the music video directed by Andy Hines, Khalid sports blue hair and lives in a futuristic apartment building. He walks by several drones and massive house plants, and sings and dances in his apartment.

In a press statement, Khalid explained that the upcoming LP is about discovering “a purpose and sense of self in a world where everything is digitally connected but emotionally disconnected.”

“I was inspired by how I was feeling during the pandemic and the emotional toll that quarantine took on me and my friends,” he said. “As we all come out of quarantine and venture more into the world and try to reconnect with people we haven’t seen in over a year, I hope the messages explored within the album open up conversations and allow people to access their feelings in a new way.”

The Texas singer-songwriter’s third album follows 2019’s Free Spirit, which included singles “My Bad” and “Talk.” Khalid has collaborated with a myriad of artists including Tate McRae, J Balvin, Alicia Keys, Victoria Monét, Disclosure and Major Lazer.
