Khalid releases laid-back new song, “Eleven”

The track is sure to be your new “favorite drug.”

Khalid has kicked off his year with a mellow new song titled “Eleven.”

On the laid-back track, the singer wonders if his lover has been faithful while they cruise through the city. “Late at night, eleven, we’re cruisin’ / Lately, I’ve been watchin’ your movements / If I’m the only one that you’re choosin’ / Am I your favorite drug you’ve been usin’?” he croons.

“This one, I wanted to do something different,” he told Beats 1’s Zane Lowe of the track. “My mom lives, breathes, sleeps R&B music, so I really feel like this is the ode to just people who came before me… It reminds me of that Timbaland era and Aaliyah and [when] music just felt so good. You just wanted to turn it on and drive just to nowhere.”

“Eleven” is the latest solo release from Khalid, following November’s “Up All Night.” Last year, the singer released his sophomore album, Free Spirit, which included the tracks “Talk,” “My Bad” and “Saturday Nights,” featuring Kane Brown.
