Jorja Smith has released a jazzy new single called “Kiss Me in the Morning.”
The sultry track was recorded for Netflix’s upcoming musical drama, The Eddy, directed by Damien Chazelle (of La La Land and Whiplash fame). The series, which spotlights a jazz musician who runs a concert venue in Paris, will premiere this Friday.
Over prancing jazz instrumentation, Smith scats and croons for her lover: “When you kiss me in the morning / Then you should call me late at night / I never tell you what I’m thinking / And, yet, you always seem to get it right / Now I’ve been loving what you’re giving / It never stays away from right.”
“Kiss Me in the Morning” marks the British singer’s first track of the year, following her 2019 collaboration with Burna Boy, “Be Honest,” and another soundtrack contribution, “Make it Right” for the film Blue Story.
