Jhené Aiko’s been laying low since the release of her sophomore album, Trip, which landed last September. But now she’s returned with a slow-burning jam, “Wasted Love Freestyle.”

Produced by Amaire Johnson, the smooth R&B track features a broken-hearted Aiko detailing the aftermath of a devasting break-up. “You became my life / I never realized / You were my life / Without you by my side / That just don’t feel right,” she croons over gentle piano and synths. But halfway through the song, Aiko thinks it’s time to move on. “I’m gonna set you free / Visions of you leaving me,” she sings.

“Wasted Love Freestyle” comes a month after speculations of Aiko’s split with long-time boyfriend Big Sean. The pair also recently unfollowed each other on Instagram. Could this be the singer’s way of addressing the rumors? Who knows.
