Ian Isiah drops funky new album ‘Auntie’

With unmistakable production by Chromeo.

Ian Isiah has dropped an unabashedly retro and fun-loving new project, Auntie.

The seven-track project was produced entirely by Chromeo, which helps explain the funky keys and soulful horns. It’s a sunny follow-up to the sensual, decidedly nighttime 2018 release Shugga Sextape (Vol 1).

Auntie is the first project Chromeo has produced for another artist, the duo revealed on Twitter. Isiah had connected with them over Instagram years ago, and Chromeo were “familiar with his incredible gospel-meets-El Debarge voice,” they explained.

After featuring him on the interlude “Right Back Home to You” from their 2018 album Head Over Heels, Chromeo “started working on a full project, blending soul, funk, R&B and some textures we can’t really pull off with our own stuff.” Auntie was also released on Chromeo’s newly minted Juliet Records, on which Isiah is the marquee artist.
