HER drops lovesick new song, “Wrong Places”

A composition from the songwriting show, ‘Songland.’

HER has released “Wrong Places,” a lovesick tune that sprang from NBC’s songwriting competition Songland.

“I was once told I’m too young to settle / But age ain’t a thing, I’m just too sentimental,” the R&B star sings over twinkling acoustic guitar. “Looking for someone to write all the words to my instrumental / And if I give you my heart, promise you’ll be gentle.”

“Wrong Places” emerged from the most recent episode of Songland’s second season, on which HER appeared as a guest. She helped craft the song with lead songwriter Raquel Castro and producer Ryan Tedder (of OneRepublic). Also credited are Zachary Powell, Shane McAnally, Ester Dean and DJ Camper.

Other Songland compositions that have been released include Aloe Blacc and JID’s “Getting Started,” Jonas Brothers’ “Greenlight” and Kelsea Ballerini’s “Better Luck Next Time.”
