HER announces debut album, ‘Back of My Mind’

The newly minted Oscar winner has shared a Chris Brown collab, “Come Through.”

HER—R&B singer and newly minted Oscar winner—has announced her debut studio album, Back of My Mind.

On Sunday night, HER won an Oscar for Best Original Song for “Fight For You,” her contribution to the soundtrack of Judas and the Black Messiah. Just days before, the singer born Gabriella Wilson dropped a new single, “Come Through” featuring Chris Brown, and announced the project in a tweet. “Album!!!! #BOMM,” she captioned a photo that also listed two songs from the tracklist.

“Come Through” is a sensual ballad with production from Cardiak. “But you should come through tonight / I’m chilling on the Westside, boo / Call my homegirl, tell your best friend / You can slide too on the low, a remote location,” HER and Brown croon on the chorus.

Though there’s no release date for Back of My Mind at present, it will follow HER’s compilation albums HER and I Used to Know Her, which arrived in 2017 and 2019, respectively. The former gained the Vallejo native two Grammy Awards for Best R&B Album and Best R&B Performance.
