Gallant cuts deep on “Haha No One Can Hear You!”

This new track from the R&B/soul singer is subtle—but devastating.

You have to listen closely to Gallant’s new song, the blithely titled “Haha No One Can Hear You!”

It’s easy to be enthralled by the Grammy-nominated singer’s fluid, golden vocals, but the lyrics of this new track demand more attention. Christopher Gallant addresses a subject who’s at once lost in their own, luxurious world and unable to restrain their self-destructive tendencies. “But now you got / Thorns in your back / ’Cause you tried to grab one / For yourself ’cause you can’t help it,” he croons on the chorus.

This knotty psychological portrait is burnished with smooth production by Stint, who previously worked with Gallant on his 2016 debut album, Ology. “Haha No One Can Hear You!” follows “Doesn’t Matter” and its remix with A$AP Ferg—let’s hope all this fresh music from Gallant adds up to a new album soon.
