Free Nationals unveil star-studded eponymous debut album

Featuring Anderson .Paak, Daniel Caesar, JID and more.

Anderson .Paak’s backing band the Free Nationals have finally released their long-awaited self-titled debut album.

For the 13-track record, the band enlisted a star-studded line-up of guest artists, including the late Mac Miller, JID and Kali Uchis, as well as Griselda Records’ Conway the Machine and Westside Gunn, among others. Daniel Caesar also appears on “Beauty & Essex,” while The Internet’s Syd contributes to “Shibuya.”

“The process [of collaboration] itself was very natural,” guitarist José Rios recently told Isolated Nation. “It was just like, we had the music done and we were just sitting there like, well now we just need lyrics. You have Syd’s number? So we hit up Syd. You have JID’s number? So we hit up JID… Daniel Caesar did his thing. Everyone contributed, and they believed in us, they believed in the project and they provided us with some really special stuff.”
