Free Nationals recruit Syd for dreamy new single, “Shibuya”

Their self-titled debut album arrives in December.

Anderson .Paak’s band the Free Nationals have announced their long-awaited self-titled debut album with the new song, “Shibuya,” featuring Syd of The Internet.

On the laid-back song, Syd delivers smooth vocals over a groovy bassline and funky horns. “You should stay until Saturday / ’Cause you ain’t gotta work tomorrow anyway / Do you babe? Oh, sweet Saturdays / I got you all to myself on Saturdays,” she sings.

“Shibuya” is the fifth release from The Free Nationals, following the Chronixx-assisted “Eternal Light” and “On Sight” with JID, Kadhja Bonet and MIKNNA. The record will also feature appearances from rappers Conway the Machine, Westside Gunn, TI and more. The full-length arrives December 13 via OBE LLC/EMPIRE.
