Free Nationals’ new single features first posthumous Mac Miller verse

“Time” also features Kali Uchis.

Anderson .Paak’s band the Free Nationals have returned with “Time,” a new single featuring Kali Uchis and a verse from the late Mac Miller.

The groovy track opens with buttery vocals from Uchis, who mulls over a relationship that’s gotten “too comfortable.” Miller joins in mid-track, dropping introspective bars about personal space and self-growth while in a committed relationship. “We just need some time / Keep watching, let it all unwind / You get yours, of course, I get mine / And in the end, everything will be fine, that’s by design,” he raps. His verse has, according to NPR, been authorized by his family.

“Time” is the first release to feature Miller since his tragic passing last September. On the other hand, the Free Nationals previously dropped the song “Beauty & Essex” last October.
