FKA twigs has finally released her long-awaited sophomore album, Magdalene, five years after her critically acclaimed debut LP1.

The English singer previewed the nine-track record with the singles “Cellophane,” the Future-assisted “Holy Terrain” and “Home with You.” On the project, twigs addresses the heartache and health issues she’s faced since her first album.

“Going through so much just allows me to be really open and vulnerable when writing,” twigs told Entertainment Weekly. “I really wasn’t living the high life during this time. I was just by myself a lot. And I was able to tap into a lot of emotions.”

The singer also referred to Magdalene as a “killing of ego,” explaining that the success of LP1 initially hindered her progress on the sophomore record. “I think for me as soon as I removed the pressure and I removed my expectation of what my next album would be after LP1 was received so beautifully, it actually began to flow out,” she added. “When I was in my head about it and I guess that when I was in my ego about it, nothing was coming.”

Magdalene is the follow-up to twigs’ 2015 EP, M3LL155X. Last year, she teamed up with A$AP Rocky on “Fukk Sleep.”
