Ella Mai falls head over heels on new song, “Trip”

The R&B songbird’s proving she’s no one-hit wonder.

Ella Mai’s had a rather successful first half of the year, and she’s not planning to slow down anytime soon. Continuing her reign over the charts, the English singer-songwriter has released a new song, “Trip,” as a follow-up to her hit single, “Boo’d Up.”

The track, which hears Mai teaming up with DJ Mustard yet again, carries a bouncy, ’90s-inspired R&B beat similar to its predecessor. It’s a piano-driven ballad that describes a love so good that the singer just can’t get enough. “Maybe it’s your love, it’s too good to be true / Baby boy, your love, got me trippin’ on you,” the 23-year-old croons on the infectious chorus.
