Brockhampton debut “Tonya” on ‘The Tonight Show’

This marks the group’s first late-night television performance.

The internet’s new favorite band, Brockhampton, have just premiered their latest song, “Tonya,” on the recent episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. It was also the hip hop collective’s debut late-night television appearance.

“Tonya” is a moody, downtempo pop rap tune that paints a picture of the group’s personal struggle with fame, loss and rejection. “Daddy said study hard or get that cash / Mommy said your career ain’t gon’ last / Loose change, collared cat, moved out their pad,” MC Merlyn Wood rhymes on his verse.

Singers serpentwithfeet, Jazmine Sullivan and Ryan Beatty also lent their vocals to the tune, and accompanied the band during the set. The trio’s addition adds a touch of soul to the raw and melancholic track.
