Blood Orange plays a soothing NPR ‘Tiny Desk’

Dev Hynes was joined by Eva Tolkin, Ian Isiah and Mikey Freedom Hart.

Blood Orange, also known as Dev Hynes, is the latest artist to grace NPR’s Tiny Desk concert series.

The set opens with “By Ourselves,” with Eva Tolkin and Ian Isiah on backup vocals, featuring a powerful spoken word performance from poet Ashlee Haze. Hynes and company then segue into a groovy rendition of “Jewelry,” off his latest album Negro Swan, with Mikey Freedom Hart on piano. They also offered up a cover of The Clark Sisters’ “Holy Will.”

Hynes, Tolkin and Isiah then finished up the set as a trio, with a soulful take on “Dagenham Dream.” Watch Hynes’ Tiny Desk concert below:
