Ari Lennox drops two sparkling new songs

“Pedigree” and “No One” prove she’s one to watch.

R&B up-and-comer Ari Lennox is in the midst of readying a debut album, but she’s been dropping a steady stream of singles to placate her fans. Her two newest songs, “Pedigree” and “No One,” prove that she’s someone you should definitely keep your eye on.

On the jazzy, flirty “Pedigree,” the Washington DC native channels Erykah Badu in her nasal tone and her irrepressible swag. “And when you see a n***a please act like you know,” she sings on the pre-chorus, drawing out the last syllable. “Won’t sit around keep stressin’, oh no, oh.”

“No One,” a lament about loneliness, is not as upbeat but no less enjoyable, thanks to Lennox’s sense of humor and penchant for keeping it real. “Invite my homie over for a vent,” she sings. “All she wanna play is GTA.”
