Alicia Keys and Brandi Carlile have teamed up on “A Beautiful Noise,” a plea to their fellow American citizens to vote in the 2020 US presidential elections.
The song made its premiere on October 29, during the CBS television special Every Vote Counts: A Celebration of Democracy. In the video, Keys and Carlile delivered the stunning call to arms, their soulful vocals laid atop melodic piano. “From the silence of my sisters / To the violence of my brother / We can, we can rage / Against the river / Feel the pain of another / I have a voice,” they duet on the chorus.
The track was co-written by Keys and Carlile alongside the all-female team of Brandy Clark, Linda Perry, Lori McKenna, Ruby Amanfu, Hailey Whitters and Hillary Lindsey. “The evolution of ‘A Beautiful Noise’ represents a group of incredible women from all different walks of life coming together with a universal message of hope and empowerment,” Carlile shared in a statement. “It is an important reminder that we all have a voice and that our voices count.”
“Everyone has the power to make beautiful noise and to lift others up with their voice,” Keys added. “And now more than ever, we need to let those voices be heard by voting.”
“A Beautiful Noise” follows the recent release of Keys’ seventh studio album ALICIA in September. Carlile, on the other hand, released her last solo studio album, By the Way, I Forgive You, in 2018. Listen to their powerful collab below:
