A lost Marvin Gaye album will finally be released

‘You’re the Man’ will arrive just ahead of what would have been Gaye’s 80th birthday.

A Marvin Gaye album once thought lost will see the light of day later this year.

Motown has just announced the album, You’re the Man, will be released on March 29, four days before what would have been the R&B legend’s 80th birthday. Gaye died in 1984.

The album, which was supposed to have been the follow-up to the classic What’s Going on, will feature all of Gaye’s solo and non-soundtrack recordings from 1972. Gaye recorded the songs in Detroit and Los Angeles, but the full project was never released—only the title track.
