Zedd remixes Shawn Mendes’ “Lost in Japan”

It’s a funky take on the track.

It’s only been a few months since Shawn Mendes first released “Lost in Japan”—and already Zedd has decided to breathe new life into the lush, mid-tempo bop.

This remix gives both artists the chance to step outside their comfort zones. Mendes has never forged far into dance territory, though the track shows he might be a good fit: The lovelorn vocals of the original fit perfectly with Zedd’s uptempo production, which flaunts funkier influences than one might expect from the EDM-pop producer.

“I was really excited when Shawn asked me to work on a new version of ‘Lost in Japan,’” Zedd said via a press release. “I tried to fuse both of our worlds together and bring us both to a place we wouldn’t have gone to by ourselves. It’s my favorite song from the album, so it was super fun to put my own touch to it.”
