Zara Larsson enlists Sabrina Carpenter for “Wow” remix

The Swedish pop star’s 2019 single gets an update.

Zara Larsson has teamed up with Sabrina Carpenter to give her 2019 Marshmello-produced single, “Wow,” a refreshing update.

While there’s nothing too grand or unexpected about the remix—the production stays relatively the same throughout—Carpenter’s additional seductive verse slides in perfectly over the track’s already sultry production, elevating the song even further. “In a crowded place, can you just imagine?” the singer-actress wonders. “It’s unparalleled, the way it all just happened / If you can’t have me, you don’t want no one.”

Their collaboration came after “Wow” was featured on the soundtrack of Carpenter’s latest Netflix movie Work it, which the actress starred in and executive-produced. “When the movie came out, [the song] really kinda had a resurgence like it was brought back to life and people just loved the song and it kinda started to blow up,” Carpenter said during an interview on The Kelly Clarkson Show.

“I think just the connection there and Zara and I just being kind of mutual friends… it just worked out so I just hopped on the song.”

“Wow” is expected to appear on Larsson’s forthcoming third studio album, which the Swedish pop star has delayed after “not feeling satisfied.” In July, she continued to tease the record with her first solo single of 2020, “Love Me Land.”
