Watch sparks fly in Ruby Jay’s video for “Young Love”

This ain’t a case of puppy love.

Ruby Jay captures the innocence of teen romance in the video for her latest single, “Young Love.”

In the summertime clip, directed by Sean Alexander, the 14-year-old singer-actress falls head over heels for a boy she meets at a dance studio. “They say we’re too young to understand love,” Jay croons over gentle acoustic strumming. “But maybe they’re too old to understand us.”

The rest of the video is just as endearing as the teenaged couple ride into the sunset on their bicycles and cozy up by a bonfire. Towards the end, Jay’s new boy surprises her with a necklace and a scrapbook filled with photos of them. Cue the “awws.”

“The song is about how I feel about young love,” Jay told Billboard, which premiered the video. “Love is fun, it’s light-hearted and, no matter your age, it’s something everyone will feel at some point in their life. The song is about the new generation trying to figure out how love works.”
