Selena Gomez has released a psychedelic video for “Rare,” the title track of her recently released third studio album.
In the fantastical clip, the singer performs the song in a forest clearing, surrounded by vibrant flowers and butterflies. “It feels like you don’t care / Why don’t you recognize I’m so rare? / Always there / You don’t do the same for me, that’s not fair,” she sings on the chorus. The rainbow-filled visual also features scenes of Gomez in a pool and lounging in bed.
“Everybody thinks that they have to look exactly the same and they have to do these things and the truth is, you don’t,” Gomez said of the song during a listening party for Rare, according to Entertainment Tonight. “It’s a song that says, ‘I know that I don’t have it all, but I do know that I deserve something special.’ That song is exactly how I feel. I won’t tolerate being treated any other way anymore.”
“Rare” is the latest track from Gomez’s third studio album to get the visual treatment, following “Lose You to Love Me” and “Look at Her Now.” Last year, she teamed up with J Balvin, Benny Blanco and Tainy for “I Can’t Get Enough.”
