Miley Cyrus recently appeared on The Howard Stern Show and performed a powerful cover of the Hole song “Doll Parts.”
Before delivering the intense rendition of the 1992 Live Through This single with her band, Cyrus revealed she had only sung “Doll Parts” for the first time the day before. A few days later, on Instagram, Hole vocalist Courtney Love praised Cyrus’ cover, calling her “very sweet.” “I’m touched,” she added.
While on The Howard Stern Show, Cyrus also performed songs from her latest album Plastic Hearts: her Dua Lipa collaboration “Prisoner” and “Midnight Sky” remix “Edge of Midnight,” which stars Stevie Nicks on the studio version.
“I’ve never written a song quite the way this process was,” Cyrus told Stern of “Prisoner.” “It’s been written in different times, I kinda put down the pen and then revisited it, put it down, revisited it… I guess it really feels so current because all of us are kinda feeling like we’re a little bit trapped in our own thoughts.”
“Doll Parts” joins the ever-expanding list of rock classics Cyrus has made her own over the years, the most recent including The Cranberries’ “Zombie” and Blondie’s “Heart of Glass.” Watch her performances on the The Howard Stern Show below.
