Maroon 5 have released a touching video for their latest single, “Memories.”
The clip is an homage to the band’s late manager Jordan Feldstein, who passed away in 2017 due from a pulmonary embolism. In the simple visual frontman Adam Levine performs the song as the camera slowly pulls away in one continuous take. “Toast to the ones here today / Toast to the ones that we lost on the way / ’Cause the drinks bring back all the memories / And the memories bring back, memories bring back you,” he sings.
“[Feldstein’s death is] still really raw, so this is kind of hard for me to elaborate on,” Levine recently told radio host Howard Stern. “I needed this song… in a world that is increasingly chaotic and crazy and angry in a lot of ways, rather than fight about things, it’s nice to have common ground and all of us have had loss.”
“Memories” is the first release from Maroon 5 since their 2017 album, Red Pill Blues. Levine recently made headlines when he announced that he was leaving his longtime position as a coach on the NBC singing competition The Voice.
