Watch Kacey Musgraves perform “Butterflies” on ‘Today Show’

Pop meets country in the tender, feel-good performance that ties up the crooner's busy album-release week.

Last Friday, Kacey Musgraves took to the NBC Today Show stage to croon out “Butterflies,” a track off her third and latest album, Golden Hour.

The saccharine tune manages to bridge Musgrave’s country roots and a slick, contemporary pop sound. Her porcelain-like voice and gentle Texan lilt—and a plucked banjo in the back—make perfect accompaniments to the tune’s imploring, heartfelt tone.

Musgraves’ got a lot going on: She dropped Golden Hour on March 30 and has been on the talk show circuit. After this performance, she went on to the Late Show with Stephen Colbert to stun audiences with an intimate rendition of “Slow Burn,” the lead track off the record.
