Justin Bieber has dropped a music video for “Holy,” his new single featuring Chance the Rapper.
The Colin Tilley-directed clip opens with Bieber and his on-screen partner, played by Ryan Destiny, content in their everyday lives: the pop star does good, honest work on a crude oil plant, while she’s on staff at a retirement home.
But they both fall on hard times, with Bieber losing his job and both of them getting kicked out of the motel room they live in. However, a kind-hearted veteran (played by Wilmer Valderrama) lends them a compassionate helping hand.
“The way you hold me feels so holy,” Bieber sings on the chorus. “On God / Running to the altar like a track star / Can’t wait another second / ’Cause the way you hold me feels so holy.” Chance supplies a similarly pious verse: “I know when the son takes the first steps, the Father’s proud / If you make it to the water, He’ll part the clouds.”
“Holy” marks the beginning of a “new era” for Bieber, he declared on Twitter. Bieber dropped his fifth studio album Changes in February. It was led by the singles “Yummy” and “Get Me” featuring Kehlani. Since then, he’s collaborated with Ariana Grande on “Stuck With U” and guest-starred in DJ Khaled and Drake’s video for their song “Popstar.”
On the other hand, Chance released his latest album The Big Day last year. The collab-heavy album featured the likes of John Legend, DaBaby, Death Cab For Cutie, Ari Lennox, Megan Thee Stallion and more. He’s recently collaborated with Brandy, Baha Bank$ and Ludacris.
