Harry Styles performed a cover of Joni Mitchell’s “Big Yellow Taxi” during his recent appearance on BBC Radio 2’s The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show.
Backed by his band, the former One Direction singer delivered a rather faithful rendition of the ’70s classic, a song which calls for greater environmental awareness. Styles even got Mitchell’s ad libs down to a T, including her memorable falsetto and laughter towards the end of the track. “Don’t it always seem to go / That you don’t know what you’ve got ’til it’s gone? / They paved paradise, put up a parking lot,” he crooned on the chorus.
Styles is currently promoting his latest studio full-length Fine Line, which arrived in December. Described by Styles as a record that’s “all about having sex and feeling sad,” the album features the singles “Adore You,” “Watermelon Sugar” and “Lights Up.”
