Billie Eilish and Rosalía have released their highly anticipated collaboration, “Lo Vas A Olvidar.”
Over minimal instrumentation and production, Eilish and Rosalía sing—primarily in Spanish—of anguish and heartbreak. “Lo Vas A Olvidar” will appear in an upcoming special episode of the Zendaya-starring HBO show Euphoria. The episode, titled “Part 2: Jules,” will air on January 24.
The song also received a visual treatment directed by Nabil, in which the two artists, each alone in a gloomy setting, dramatically perform the song under flashing lights.
“Lo Vas A Olvidar” was co-written by Eilish, Rosalía and their frequent collaborators of Finneas and El Guincho, respectively. Eilish revealed in an interview with Zane Lowe that she had written its final English lyric—“You say it to me like it’s something I have any choice in / If I wasn’t important, then why would you waste all your poison?”—with her parents, Finneas and his girlfriend.
“I was sitting in the room with my entire family,” she recalled. “We both, all of us, including my dad and my mom, they were like, ‘What if it was like…’ We were all giving ideas. So technically they should have a writing credit, because we all wrote that line right at the end.”
“Lo Vas A Olvidar” is both Eilish and Rosalía’s first release of 2021. Eilish’s most recent single was “Therefore I Am,” while in December Rosalía hopped on a remix of The Weeknd’s hit single “Blinding Lights.”
