Selena Gomez has unveiled the original demo version of “Lose You to Love Me.”
The demo version is even more stripped-back than the already sparse instrumentation of the single, with Gomez’s emotional vocal delivery paired with piano chords and a backing choir. This version also has a slightly different song structure, with outro of the studio version (“And now it’s goodbye, it’s goodbye for us”) used during the bridge instead.
“It’s been almost a year since I released one of the most important songs of my career and my first Billboard number one, ‘Lose You to Love Me,’” Gomez tweeted. “To celebrate with you, here’s the unreleased demo version that so many of you have asked for!”
“Lose You to Love Me” is a cut from Gomez’s latest studio album, Rare, which was released in January this year. In August, the pop star teamed up with K-pop girl group BLACKPINK on the track “Ice Cream.”
