Selena Gomez has returned with two new singles: “Lose You to Love Me” and “Look at Her Now.”
On “Lose You To Love Me,” co-produced by Billie Eilish’s brother and collaborator Finneas, the pop star chronicles her journey from a destructive relationship to self-love. “I want people to feel hope and to know you will come out the other side stronger and a better version of yourself,” she explained in a press statement. The song arrived alongside an emotional black-and-white video where Gomez sings straight to the camera.
“Look at Her Now,” on the other hand, is a triumphant club-ready track where Gomez proclaims that “she’ll find love” on her own time. “Of course she was sad / But now she’s glad she dodged a bullet / Took a few years to soak up the tears / But look at her now,” she sings. In the accompanying visual, the singer performs intricate choreography on a futuristic set with pulsating neon lights.
Both tracks were co-written by Gomez alongside her frequent collaborators Julia Michaels and Justin Tranter. The videos for the songs were both shot on iPhones, in collaboration with Apple, the singer revealed in an Instagram post.
“Lose You To Love Me” and “Look at Her Now” are Gomez’s first solo releases since 2018’s “Back to You,” for the soundtrack of 13 Reasons Why’s second season. Earlier this year, she teamed up with J Balvin, Benny Blanco and Tainy on “I Can’t Get Enough.”
