Sam Smith wonders “How Do You Sleep?” on new single

“I’m done hating myself for feeling,” he declares.

Sam Smith is back with his first solo single of the year, “How Do You Sleep?”

The English singer battles heartbreak on the dreamy song, produced by ILYA. He trades his usual brand of sorrow for anger and resentment on the dancey chorus: “Baby, how do you sleep when you lie to me? / All that shame and all that danger / I’m hoping that my love will keep you up tonight.”

Smith pairs the song with a slick video. In the Grant Singer-directed visual, the singer unleashes his inner dancer, showing off his voguing moves with a spectacular, all-male dance troupe. The routines were choreographed by Parris Goebel.

“This year, both personally and musically, I feel so free,” Smith said in a press release. “More than ever I have had so much fun making this record and this video. Time to dance, darlings.”

“How Do You Sleep?” is the latest release from Smith, whose last full-length, The Thrill of it All, arrived in 2017. He previously dropped “Fire on Fire” last December and linked up with Normani on “Dancing With a Stranger” in January.
