Sam Smith, Demi Lovato drop triumphant new collab, “I’m Ready”

Pop superstars Sam Smith and Demi Lovato have joined forces on a new collaboration, “I’m Ready.”

The anthem’s message is loud and clear: both singers are ready to be loved and accepted for who they are. “It’s so hard when you’re with someone / Your heart breaks and it ain’t no fun / But I gotta take that risk tonight / I’m ready, I’m ready, I’m ready, I’m ready / For someone to love me,” they proclaim proudly, aided by chest-thumping production.

In the accompanying video, Smith and Lovato compete in various Olympic competitions such as wrestling, track and field, and diving. After much grit and sweat, both singers emerge triumphant as winners.

“I’m Ready” is the lead single off Smith’s upcoming album, which was initially set for a May 2020 release. However, over the last month, they announced that the record will be renamed and pushed back to a later release, though they also promised fans the project will still drop this year.

Lovato has been teasing a new album with lead singles “I Love Me” and “Anyone,” which both give fans insight into the 27-year-old’s struggles over the last few years. The upcoming record, however, has not yet been completed.

“We haven’t gotten into the track listings yet. And I’m still, I’m actually finishing up some of the album,” Lovato told E! News in March. “It was gonna be done a lot earlier than I thought. And then, um, after my performances [at the 2020 Grammys and 2020 Super Bowl], you know, we kinda went back to the drawing board and thought, ‘What is this album missing? What, uh, are we, am I really putting out the best work that I possibly can?’ So I’m just taking a little bit more time with it.”
