Sam Smith announces new album with “To Die For”

Their new record is out in May.

Sam Smith released “To Die For,” the title track of their forthcoming third studio album.

A surreal video accompanied the song’s release. The clip features Smith as a bald mannequin head in the display window of a wig shop. Over the course of several years, the singer watches as families pass by and mannequins get sold, until they’re the only one left.

“I wrote the song with Jimmy Napes and Stargate in LA during a time of self-discovery and heartbreak,” Smith said in a press statement. “This is for all the lonely hearts out there on another Valentine’s Day.”


“To Die For” is the latest taste of Smith’s forthcoming album, following “How Do You Sleep?” and the Normani-assisted “Dancing with a Stranger.” The record is also expected to feature the singer’s cover of Donna Summer’s 1977 classic “I Feel Love.”
