Rina Sawayama covers Lady Gaga’s “Dance in the Dark”

Part of Spotify Singles’ Pride special.

Japanese-British singer Rina Sawayama has delivered a haunting cover of Lady Gaga’s 2009 The Fame Monster cut, “Dance in the Dark.”

Sawayama’s version was released as part of a special Pride edition of Spotify’s cover series Spotify Singles, which also featured fellow LGBT artists Orville Peck and Joesef. In a Twitter post, Sawayama shared that “Dance in the Dark” is one of her favorite Gaga songs, and explained she recorded the cover remotely with her collaborator Clarence Clarity.

Earlier in April, Sawayama released her self-titled sophomore album, her first for the label Dirty Hit. SAWAYAMA included the songs “Bad Friend,” “Chosen Family,” “XS,” “Comme des Garçons (Like the Boys)” and “STFU!”.
