Rina Sawayama drops deluxe edition of debut album

New additions include a cover of The 1975’s “Love it if We Made it.”

Rina Sawayama has dropped the deluxe edition of her debut LP SAWAYAMA, which includes 11 new tracks.

The fresh additions include remixes, acoustic versions and live recordings of previous singles “XS,” “STFU!,” “Bad Friend,” “Chosen Family” and “Comme des Garçons (Like the Boys).” Sawayama also treats fans to a cover of The 1975’s A Brief Inquiry into Online Relationships track “Love it if We Made it” and three original songs, including “Lucid.”

“Lucid” was initially locked away so producer BloodPop could drop their collaboration, but the single’s release stalled when he was signed on to produce Lady Gaga’s 2020 LP Chromatica. The other new tracks, “Bees & Honey” and “We Out Here,” nearly found their way onto the original SAWAYAMA tracklist, but were ultimately left out in favor of other songs.

“Honestly, if ‘Paradisin’’ wasn’t on the record, ‘Bees & Honey’ would be on there,” Sawayama told Vulture. “If ‘Akasaka [Sad]’ wasn’t on the record, then ‘We Out Here’ would have been on there. But I wanted it to flow through really nicely. I just kept trying to make them fit and they didn’t, but I’m really glad that they’re coming out.”
