English singer Rex Orange County—real name Alexander O’Connor—is back with a new single titled “10/10.”
The introspective song arrived alongside a video that was shot in one continuous take. The clip opens on the singer playing a synthesizer in his living room while his friends play video games. Things take a strange turn when he heads into the kitchen to make a sandwich: a ghost appears, people in Spider-Man costumes perform a choreographed dance and color drains from the world.
But things start to go back to normal once O’Connor begins to sing about how he’s taking control of his life again: “Now, I’m safe and sound where I belong / It took all my strength to carry on / And though it’s still hard work to find the words / I’m still gonna write this fuckin’ song.”
O’Connor first premiered “10/10” at Glastonbury earlier in July. The song is the follow-up to February’s “New House.”
