Red Velvet join Ellie Goulding, Diplo for “Close to Me” rework

Check out the new Korean-language chorus.

Red Velvet have teamed up with Ellie Goulding and Diplo for an epic remix of “Close to Me.”

It’s clear even on first listen that Red Velvet were very much involved in the making of the remix. The K-pop quintet are featured prominently on the track, even serving a Korean-language chorus. They take the helm on the second verse, swapping out Swae Lee’s original lines and delivering smooth vocals until the end of the bridge.

“Beyond this heart, even closer, until we touch, closer / As if we’re always tangled, our relationship towards each other gets closer / Now if it’s not you, not you, if it’s not me, it cannot be,” they harmonize on the reimagined chorus, with lyrics by members Wendy and Yeri.

This “Close to Me” rework is the latest in a slew of recent collaborations between K-pop and Western musicians, including HONNE’s “Crying Over You” remix with RM and “Play it Cool” by Monsta X and Steve Aoki.
