OneRepublic drop new track, “Connection”

It's a summer-ready smash.

After releasing “Start Again” for Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why soundtrack, OneRepublic have returned with a new song called, “Connection.” And it looks like Ryan Tedder and company might have another hit on their hands.

As the track’s title might’ve already clued you in, the song’s about forming bonds with people. “Basically the whole idea—and a lot of what this album—was about human connection,” Tedder stated in a recent interview with Beats 1. “Trying to find authenticity and authentic connection.”

The lyrics tell a similar story. “These days my waves get lost in the oceans / Seven billion swimmers, man I’m going through the motions.” By the time the catchy chorus kicks in with a cry of “Can I get a connection?”, it becomes a straight-up earworm.

Although the subject matter might be on the serious side, you gotta admit that the production has enough energy and excitement to make it a proper summer smash. Stream it here:
