Olivia Rodrigo makes good on “Drivers License” with debut album ‘Sour’

“This record talks about emotions that are hard to talk about or aren’t really socially acceptable especially for girls.”

Olivia Rodrigo has dropped her hotly anticipated debut album Sour.

The 11-track record includes Rodrigo’s breakthrough hit “Drivers License” as well as its follow-up singles “Good 4 U” and “Deja Vu.” There are also exciting new cuts such as the rock-flavoured “Brutal,” earnest pop ballad “Hope Ur Ok,” and the melancholic “1 Step Forward, 3 Steps Back”—which interpolates, with permission, its piano melody from Taylor Swift’s “New Year’s Day.”

“Something I’m really proud of is that this record talks about emotions that are hard to talk about or aren’t really socially acceptable especially for girls: anger, jealousy, spite, sadness, they’re frowned-upon as bitchy and moaning and complaining or whatever,” Rodrigo said of Sour in an interview with The Guardian. “But I think they’re such valid emotions.”
