mxmtoon, Carly Rae Jepsen collaborate on “ok on your own”

mxmtoon’s new EP, ‘dusk’, is due out next month.

mxmtoon has teased her upcoming EP, dusk, with a new Carly Rae Jepsen collab titled “ok on your own.”

The laid-back track is about telling fans that “vulnerability is never something to be afraid of,” mxmtoon said in a press statement. “Admitting you need time for yourself and support from a friend is sometimes a necessary step.”

“I need some time to myself / So I can comprehend / I’m not so scared to admit / I could use a friend / I need some time to myself / To gain some confidence / Another confidant / ’Til I can fall again,” she and Jepsen harmonize on the chorus.

The 20-year-old singer also known as Maia enthused about the opportunity to collaborate with Jepsen. “I was beyond excited to work on this track and have it be graced by Carly Rae Jepsen, someone who stands for empowerment and knows the themes of love and loneliness all too well,” she said.

“ok on your own” is a taste of mxmtoon’s forthcoming EP, dusk, due out October 1. On the other hand, Jepsen recently added two new bonus tracks to her 2015 album Emotion in celebration of its fifth anniversary.
