Miley Cyrus and Lil Nas X are set to star in the first episode of Amazon Music’s ‘Holiday Plays’ livestream, which will be hosted by Lil Nas himself.
In her first appearance since the release of her album Plastic Hearts last week, Cyrus will perform a range of songs off her latest album, including “Prisoner” and “Midnight Sky”, along with reworks of tracks such as Wham!’s holiday classic “Last Christmas.” According to an announcement, Cyrus will perform on an elaborate set amid photos and souvenirs from her childhood.
“We all have a history and I’ve had an incredibly unique life,” Cyrus told People ahead of the performance. “I’ve been on magazines and posters since I was a kid and people have seen the tough, beautiful, hard and glamorous points of it all. This is me, and this performance is about my evolution – embracing all versions of it.”
The premiere will also feature Lil Nas X performing his new festive single “Holiday” on a likewise over-the-top set inspired by the track’s fantastical visual, which depicts the rapper as a futuristic Santa Claus. The “Old Town Road” rapper recently made waves when he teased a tracklist for an upcoming project, which would be the long-awaited follow-up to his debut EP 7.
From December 1, 8pm Eastern Time, the episode will be available to stream from the Amazon Music app or Twitch channel, as well as on Amazon.com or Prime video in the US. New episodes will drop weekly through December 15, and will be available on-demand ’til December 31.
Ahead of the ‘Holiday Plays’ premiere, Amazon dropped a cheeky teaser in which Lil Nas badgers Cyrus to “Christmas up her performance” with wacky wardrobe ideas. While you wait, watch the sneak peek below:
