Lorde hints at new music with cryptic “Solar Power” teaser

This could be her first music since 2017’s ‘Melodrama’.

After a near four-year absence, Lorde has returned to tease a new release, seemingly titled “Solar Power.”

On June 8, the New Zealand singer-songwriter updated her website with a photo titled “Solar Power.” The image depicts Lorde walking on a sunny beach, with her bottom set against a deep blue sky.

“ARRIVING IN 2021… PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE,” reads a caption accompanying the image. Below it, a link encourages her fans to register for Lorde’s mailing list. See the announcement on her website here.

The single will follow Lorde’s last release, which was 2017’s Melodrama. Lorde previously used the mailing list to promote her photobook, Going South, which documented her 2019 trip to Antarctica.

In other news, Lorde has also been booked to headline the 2022 version of Barcelona’s Primavera Sound, her first live performance in nearly three years.

Upon announcing the line-up, Primavera Sound also revealed tidbits of Lorde’s upcoming release plans. The Spanish festival wrote that she would “emerge from her retirement with her third album after her unforgettable visit in 2018.”
