Not since 2010 has Sade charmed us with fresh material. But yesterday, the British singer-songwriter showed the world how time hasn’t dulled her voice by releasing a brand-new track, “Flower of the Universe.”

The song, which will appear on the soundtrack of Disney’s upcoming film A Wrinkle in Time, is classic Sade. Her honeyed-yet-husky contralto glides over gently plucked guitars, a chanted choir in the background and not much else—because damn if Sade needs anything more than her pipes.

The elusive singer was coaxed out of her eight-year slumber by A Wrinkle in Time director Ava DuVernay, who managed to elicit more than just music from Sade. “My creative partnership with Sade on ‘Flower of the Universe’ was so connected that I reverse engineered the usual process and used her lyrics as actual dialog within the film,” DuVernay said when the partnership was announced.

A Wrinkle in Time is based on Madeleine L’Engle’s 1962 fantasy novel, and will be out in theaters this month.
