Australia’s 5 Seconds of Summer are the latest to appear on BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge segment. And the pop rock darlings took the opportunity to perform a cover of Alice Merton’s hypnotizing alt-rock debut single, “No Roots.”
The original track, which climbed to the top of international music charts, is full of groovy bass lines and funky chords with dashes of electronica. The four-piece’s rendition is still as infectious as Merton’s, but 5SOS kept things raw and clean, scaling back on the production to focus on the band’s crisp vocals.
5SOS is currently gearing up for the arrival of their third studio album, Youngblood, on June 22, and have just announced the dates for their upcoming world tour.
