K-pop singer Lee Hi has returned with a bittersweet video for her new single, “Holo.”
In the clip, Lee portrays a guardian angel who has been tasked to watch over a younger woman who tried to take her own life. “Isn’t everything supposed to happen / As it’s said or thought / Not even basking the sunlight or taking a deep breath / Could make things easier / One day it will stop,” she sings on the ballad.
“I was hoping [‘Holo’] could comfort people going through a lot of things. It’s chaotic lately, you know? The same comfort that I felt when I received the song, when I made the lyrics, I want to share,” Lee told Forbes.
“I was thinking about how loneliness doesn’t only take place when you’re alone. People can be lonely when they’re with others. When you’re feeling lonely, whether alone or with others, you should try to love yourself more by being yourself.”
“Holo” is Lee’s first release since leaving longtime label YG Entertainment last December. Earlier this year, she teamed up with Radien and Changmo for “Yours.”
