Lana Del Rey covers Sublime’s “Doin Time”

For a new documentary about the ’90s alt-rock icons.

Lana Del Rey has breathed new life into Sublime’s 1997 hit, “Doin Time.”

Released as part of a new documentary about the Californian alt-rock trio, the cover mostly retains the original arrangement, but Del Rey’s vocals give it a mystical quality. The singer’s dreamy pipes glide seamlessly over the hypnotic, ska-inflected melody, which interpolates the George Gershwin’s classic, “Summertime.”

In January, Del Rey dropped a new single from her forthcoming full-length, Norman Fucking Rockwell. The record was initially due for a March release but has since been postponed.
