Lady Gaga performs “Shallow” live for the first time at Enigma

The pop star also covered the Bowie classic, “I’m Afraid of Americans.”

Lady Gaga closed out the first night of her Enigma Las Vegas residency with a powerful performance of “Shallow.”

Performing at MGM’s Park Theater, the pop star went out on a high note with the breakout song from A Star is Born. Singing both her own and Bradley Cooper’s parts, Gaga launched into an emotional, piano-backed rendition of “Shallow,” stopping a couple times throughout to compose herself.

The singer-actress also performed a brief cover of David Bowie’s “I”m Afraid of Americans.” Transitioning from “Government Hooker” before launching into the Bowie classic, Gaga changed the lyrics to reference President Donald Trump: “John F Kennedy / I’ll make you squeal, baby / Donald Trump / If you pay me.”
